About Ion
Ion Valaskakis is President of Prometheus Strategic Advisors, a boutique management consulting and executive coaching practice with clients in North America, Europe and Australia.
Ion brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial and executive experience in the public, private and plural sectors. He worked for six years in Washington, DC as a Press Secretary to two Congressmen and then helped launch and run a ground-breaking international media initiative for the world’s largest mobile phone company, Vodafone, in London. He subsequently served as a senior executive in a fast-growing technology start-up in Montreal as well as President of the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation, an international non-profit dedicated to promoting public leadership.
In 2014, he published his first book, The Magnificent Mistake: How We Can Earn More from Failure than We Learn from Success. It describes an innovative system he developed to teach leaders and teams how to learn from their errors, and why it’s so important to do so. In 2016, he delivered a much-discussed talk at TEDxMcGill entitled Why we need a ‘Leadership Operating System’ now. In 2018, he and his colleague Mike Ross launched a podcast called Boiling the Ocean, where they apply the management consultant’s toolkit to everyday problems.
Ion has an MBA from London Business School, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in political science from Western University and a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University.
